Why a restoration?. Because it got damaged during its trip from Germany to Spain. You can see how it arrived on the first section. Yes, there is plenty of work ahead!
On 27th January 2007 I bought a 577/D1 on eBay. Things got weird and unit was shipped to Spain from Germany then, nobody knows why, it was returned to sender (this took a long month!!!). Seller sent it again by another courier and, finally, I have picked it up today... I was afraid so much travelling could have damaged the unit. And, sadly, I was right :-(
It has arrived in a marginal packaging job (wrapped in bubble wrap and some cardboard BUT only crushed paper and a regular box externally). It seems it has suffered an large impact in a rear corner which has distorted chassis (I think only rear panel which is even cracked), smashed a lateral cover and damaged the other one. There is also some damage in the 177 fixture device selection switch (it is bent and partially peeled off). Bottom is also somewhat bent as there was no protection on the bottom of the unit, just the box :-(, but this should be restored without big problems.
